Iana Aivazian
Biography
Iana Aivazian is a talented Armenian soprano, born in 2003 in Novosibirsk. She and her family moved to Echegnadzor, Armenia, during her childhood, where she began her musical studies at the music school and later graduated with a degree in piano. Iana continued her education at the Gnessin Russian Academy of Music, focusing on opera singing.
In 2019, she achieved 1st Prize at the Elena Obraztsova Competition for Young Vocalists. Throughout the 2022/2023 season, she performed in prestigious venues in Vienna, Dresden, and Berlin. Iana has also participated in masterclasses with renowned artists such as Brigitte Fassbaender, Edith Wiens, Marcelo Amaral, Vladimir Jurowski, Anna Tomowa-Sintow, Misha Shekhtman, Nicola Beller-Carbone, Margreet Honig and Helmut Deutsch.
A significant highlight of her career is her selection for the Opera Studio at the Bavarian State Opera for the 2025/26 season, where she was mentored by Tobias Truniger. During that time, she performed on important roles including the Dew Fairy in Hänsel und Gretel, Giannetta in L'elisir d'amore and Barbarina in Le nozze di Figaro.
Her repertoire features prominent characters such as Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro, Adina in L'elisir d'amore, Norina in Don Pasquale, Gilda in Rigoletto, Snow Maiden in Snow Maiden, Juliette in I Capuleti e i Montecchi, and Blondchen in Die Entführung aus dem Serail.
Additionally, she is set to perform as Adina at the Bregenz Festival in the summer of 2026.
